Aunt Kiersten's visit

Kiersten came to visit us last month, right before baby girl arrived.  It was great to have her here.  The excuse to get out and have a lot of fun before being quarantined in the house for weeks on end after Rebecca arrived was nice too. We just hung out Thursday afternoon, the first day she arrived.
Friday I had my doctor's appointment which took longer than expected.  That evening Jared, Kristen, Jon, Noreen, and Emma came over. Once Andrew and I got back from my appointment we had dessert and played games.
Saturday we went to the beach.  We rented a couple kayaks and paddle boards.  Everyone had fun and only a few of the white people, those that weren't locals, got burnt.
Uncle Jared took Ellie Mae out on the paddle board and towed her around. She enjoyed it.
Kate and Abby loved going out on the kayak.  After they got back, Ellie and I swapped them places. They then went and jumped on the water bouncy castle while we cruised around.
Saturday evening all the adults went to a Wahoo's game.  It was a fun time, even though it was quite humid.  The fireworks afterwards were great, as always.
Sunday was Father's Day and possibly the last Sunday I would be pregnant (I was hoping each day would be my last day pregnant) so we took an obligatory family photo that turned out decent.
And then another photo of Daddy and his baby girls.
We all gathered together for dinner late Sunday afternoon and then went to Navarre Pier.  The sunset was beautiful and we all enjoyed our stroll as we looked for sea life down beneath us.

The girls loved chasing after this stork. It would fly a little ways off and they would follow after it in hopes of touching it. "Poor" bird just wanted some easy food.
It was entertaining to watch, for us and everyone else.
Ellie liked the stork, but she loved these fish. She had one in each hand and then, wanting to hold another, put one under her arm to free her hand. Yeah, gross. These guys were very nice to share their fish with her. It made her very happy.
Monday Jared had his fini flight, or last flight in the U-28. At least at Hurlburt Field. Initially he wasn't going to land until the middle of the night but the stars aligned and the time changed so that we could go.  We showed up with a few minutes to spare, or at least we thought we did.  Turned out that protocol had changed at the gate.  Once upon a time, under FPCON BRAVO, only the driver needed to show their ID. Now, under FPCON BRAVO (yes, the same, which is why I had no idea), all adults have to show their military ID. If one does not have a military ID they have to go across the highway to the other side of base to get a visitors pass. This is what we ended up doing and I was less than happy about it.  We finally got to where we needed to be and only with two minutes to walk over to the flight line to see Jared fly over and then land.  Not quite perfect timing. Perfect timing would have been showing up with 10 minutes to spare, but I'm very glad we didn't miss his fly over.  It was awesome.
Kate and Abby were super excited to see Jared and even picked some purple flowers (weeds) to give to him as we were speed walking toward the flight line. Ellie fed off of their excitement and gave Jared some flowers as well. You can see them in his left chest pocket.
Wednesday morning we took Kiersten back to the airport.  It was a nice visit and we were sad to see her go. Until next time!
